Connection or SQL Sentence Error (DA0005).

Applies to: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise.

Error Message.

When we tried to run a Business Objects report, we got the following error:

BusinessObjects
Connection or SQL sentence error: (DA0005)
Exception: DBD, [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server]:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake()).]General network error. Check your network documentation. State: 08001.

Cause.

The Business Objects program was trying to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server instance that wasn't available. The instance was a clustered instance on which the Resource Group 'SQL Server' failed.

Solution.

Make sure your SQL Server instance is available. The following are some suggestions:

1) Make sure the SQL Server service is running on the instance.
2) Try to connect to the SQL Server instance through SQL Server Management Studio
