SQL Server support for Data Protection Manager
Applies to: Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, Microsoft
SQL Server 2012, Data Protection Manager 2010, Data Protection Manager 2012,
Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.
Data Protection Manager requires a 64-bit SQL Server instance for the DPM
database, only DPM 2010 can use 32-bit instances for the DPM database. DPM
requires either Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition of SQL Server for the DPM
database.

DPM 2012 R2 can protect SQL Server instances of Windows SharePoint Server 3.0,
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint
2013.
DPM 2012 RTM can protect SQL Server instances of Windows SharePoint Server
3.0, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and SharePoint 2010 only.
DPM 2012 SP1 is required to protect SQL Server instances of SharePoint 2013
DPM 2010 can protect SQL Server instances of Windows SharePoint Server 3.0,
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and SharePoint 2010.
