License agreement cannot be located.

Problem Description.
 

One of our community members in our SQL Server Facebook group was trying to install SQL Server 2012 when he received the following error message.

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

The SQL Server license agreement cannot be located for the selected edition, EVAL. This could be a result of corrupted media or the edition being unsupported by the media.

Error code 0x858C001B.




 

Cause
 

This error is probably caused by a corrupted media as mentioned on the error message.

Solution
 

We suggested the community member to download the SQL Server media (.ISO file) again from Microsoft Web site.

Once the media has been downloaded again, we recommend you to unzip its content using WinRAR into a folder on the root of the system drive (C:) and then run SQL Server setup from there.

If you have downloaded two or more times the same locale version of  the SQL Server media and you still keep receiving the same error message, then try to download the US English version to see if you can successfully install SQL Server this time, as explained on this thread.
